The following are the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent (UUCK) members of the Building Expansion Team (BET):

MISSION

The Building Expansion Team (BET) is charged by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent (UUCK) to facilitate and oversee the design and development of the new UUCK fellowship hall, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling, in accordance with the UUCK mission and seven principles.

The BET is responsible for developing, recommending and overseeing plans and construction that assures appropriate physical space, keeping in mind usage, aesthetics, environmental impact, energy usage and is designed to best serve the UUCK worship and program needs, and as appropriate, to serve the larger community that shares UUCK principles and values.

The BET’s purview includes the following:

  1. Work with architects and the Capital Campaign Committee (CCC) to develop options and budgets for the fellowship hall, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling designs and constructions. This should include:
    1. Consulting UUCK staff and programs in assessing needs and desires in regards to fellowship hall use, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling.
    2. Consulting UUCK membership for ideas and suggestions in regards to fellowship hall use, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling.
    3. Working with the architects in developing fellowship hall, sanctuary restoration, Fessenden Hall remodeling design options and budgets.
    4. Present design options, budgets and recommendations to UUCK Board of Trustees and UUCK membership. This includes providing either a working artist rendition or 3D model for each of the options.
  2. Solicit proposals and bids from contractors, once the final designs have been approved, for the construction of the UUCK fellowship hall, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling. Present the best three proposals/bids and make a recommendation to the UUCK Board of Trustees for final approval.
  3. Provide oversight on the construction of the UUCK fellowship hall, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling, alerting the UUCK Board of Trustees to any issues or problems that might arise.

The BET shall be the point of contact for all ideas and issues regarding the UUCK fellowship hall, sanctuary restoration and Fessenden Hall remodeling.

The BET shall provide regular reports to the UUCK Board of Trustees through the Trustee for Building and Grounds.
