Flawed to Perfection – September 24, 2017

Led by Rev. Anya Johnston

The Hebrew calendar tells us we have entered the new year 5778 this past week and we are headed for the most solemn and important Day of Atonement. We get to erase some mistakes as we enter the new year, and how we carry those eraser marks is key to how we move forward.

Sunday services are offered at 9:45 and 11:30 AM with Nursery care available during both services.

Our faith calls us to be welcoming to all those who seek answers to life’s big questions or to those who are in need of spiritual solace.  Feeling welcome is the first step to building new relationships in the church.  This service will explore ways we can be even more open and welcoming to all who enter our doors.

Ingathering Sunday – August 27, 2017

One service at 10 AM at Plum Creek Park, Pavilion #2

Led by Rev. Anya Johnston and Director of Religious Education Lily Rappaport

On August 27th we will return to Plum Creek Park as we unite for this exciting church year. This is a service where you are invited to bring water or soil that represents your travels, whether they have been travels of the world, the neighborhood, or of the heart. Experienced UUs will recognize this as “The Water Service” or a slight variation. Newcomers are particularly invited to attend, learn, and share into our community.

On this day we will worship together, at one-service only, starting at 10 a.m. It will be a joy to see families and folks of all ages together for a morning of welcoming and celebration.

Another take on the question, “How does an Atheist go to church?” What sort of spiritual practice might a Humanist take up? And what is to be gained from such practice, if not a conversation with the Divine? What place can a poor SYNR find with us on a Sunday morning?

Being Open to New Ministry – July 16, 2017

Led by Rev. Rod Thompson and Worship Associate Lori Fatchet-McGee

What are your expectations of our new minister?  I know you have them.  Your Search Committee will need to know what they are.  But this morning I will be more concerned about all those unwritten, unspoken, perhaps unrealistic expectations that you’ve got in the back of your minds.  So, let’s look at what makes a good minister and what your expectations should be.  You might be surprised.   See you in church.

Doubt Was Our Foundation – July 2, 2017

Led by Cal Frye and Worship Associate Rev. Christie Anderson

The United States was founded as a great experiment, a new form of government sprung from a theology grounded in Renaissance humanism. Doubting whether the experiment would last, the Founders wrote in a system that could be changed, reformed should the need arise. That openness of possibility is an opportunity. Doubt and discussion are essential to progress. Do we have faith enough to doubt?

Sunday service is offered at 10 AM with Nursery care available during the service.
