Hobbs Hall — built in 2021 — is a light-filled, beautiful, accessible, and flexible space with a commercial kitchen and full A/V setup. The Hall also has 4 all-gender private bathrooms, a patio, and off-street parking. The Hall has an allowed occupancy of 338.

Banquet Seating for 150

We offer 60″ round tables (seating up to 8 each) with padded banquet chairs.

• Additional rectangular tables available for buffets
• Dishes and tablecloths are available for an additional fee
• Commercial kitchen with pass-through available for use or your caterer’s staging

Theater Seating

Our space can also be set up with chairs in rows, theater-style for concerts, meetings, or other presentations. We have 150 padded banquet chairs. (An additional 70 folding molded plastic chairs are available for an additional set-up fee).

A basic rental includes access to our sound system with a wireless microphone and large screen TV for slideshows (you will need a laptop with an HDMI connection, or the ability to “cast”)

Mixed Theater and Banquet Seating

Hobbs Hall is often set up for events that start with a Rite of Passage (e.g. a wedding or memorial), presentation, or meeting followed by a reception. We can arrange rows of chairs facing the screen and podium, and 6-10 round tables in the back for a total of up to 150 seats.

Congratulations on your engagement, welcoming a new member of the family, or other life transition or celebration. Even if you don’t have a church home, you may feel the need to mark major life transitions with a meaningful ritual and celebration.

Officiants for Rites of Passage

We have several ministers and officiants available (for a fee) for your wedding, anniversary, child dedication, or even more complicated transitions like a gender-transition, renaming, or divorce. No matter what your background or beliefs might be, we can help you craft a meaningful and authentic ritual to mark your life transition.

Two Spaces, Different Qualities

The sanctuary, inside our historic building, is a beautiful space perfect for intimate weddings and other ceremonies and has excellent acoustics for your special music. There is seating for 110 people.  It is accessible via an elevator.

For a more modern feel and larger capacity, Hobbs Hall can seat up to 300. We offer 17 white round tables (60″ diameter) that seat 8 each as well as 150 padded banquet chairs. (See the Events tab for more information.)

Reception Options

For smaller events, we have a church kitchen and fellowship space in Fessenden Hall, located on the ground floor of the historic church building that can accommodate a couple dozen people.

Celebrations of Life / Memorial Services

We would like to extend our sincere condolences for your loss. The death of a loved one is difficult, and planning a memorial service while experiencing grief can feel overwhelming.

Humans have marked major life transitions with meaningful rites and rituals, and this time of death, loss and mourning deserves special care and attention. If you are not a member of a particular faith community but want a reverent way to celebrate the life and mourn the death of your loved one, we invite you to reach out.

Unitarian Universalism ministers are trained and experienced in listening deeply to your needs and beliefs, then crafting them into a meaningful memorial service that feels authentic and in alignment with the family’s religious beliefs. You may also opt to have the officiant meet with family to learn about the deceased in order to craft a life story (eulogy) as part of the service.

Our campus included a traditional historic sanctuary with padded pews, and Hobbs Hall which can be configured for the memorial service, a repast (reception following the service), or for both. Both spaces include a grand piano, a T-coil hearing loop, a sound system, a large video screen (for slideshows) and the ability to stream the service online. When renting Hobbs Hall, we provide coffee and tea after the service so that your guests feel welcome to stay and share memories with one another.

We can also provide a list of local pianists and caterers to choose from if you are interested in those services.

Our campus has many smaller meeting rooms.

Our smaller rooms hold up to 10 people comfortably, for either a group meeting, small gathering or dinner. 

Fessenden Hall, located on the first floor of the historic church building, will hold a few dozen people.

Our state of the art, commercial-grade kitchen is health department certified and available for events or for ongoing rentals for small baking/cooking businesses.

Amenities Included In Hobbs Hall Rentals: 

• The hourly rate for Hobbs Hall includes setup and cleanup as well as light use of the kitchen, for catering of pre-made food, specifically use of the warming ovens and ice machine. Refrigerators, stove, oven, and coffee maker are not included. Use of the full kitchen is a a separate rental agreement.
• We have 4 all-gender, accessible bathrooms in Hobbs Hall.
• We have 60 inch diameter round tables and banquet chairs that we arrange to your preference prior to your arrival. 
• We offer a microphone as well as a large wall monitor for your use (you will need a laptop with an HDMI connection). 

Amenities Available at Additional Cost: 

• White tablecloths, dishes, cups, silverware, including use of the dishwasher.
• Additional audio/visual needs (such as music, streaming events via zoom) may be available by hiring our tech manager.

Deposits: 

• We require a nominal deposit (applied to the rental cost) to hold a date. 
• There is a 50% security deposit applied to every rental, which is refundable if there are no damages.
• There is a 25% alcohol security deposit to each rental that serves alcohol. Large parties may require hiring an off-duty police officer. 

Rental Policies

• A $50 non-refundable reservation deposit is required.
• Deposit will be applied towards rental fees.
• Additional charges may be incurred if any property damage occurs as a result of the rental.
• All fees are to be paid in full two weeks prior to rental/event.
• Event cancellations will result in forfeiture of the reservation fee. Events canceled within 14 days of the event will result in forfeiture of one-half of the security deposit.
• A staff member is required to stay on premises for non-member rentals.
• Any additional time needed for cleaning, beyond what is scheduled will be invoiced at $15 per hour.
• The Church has a NO SMOKING policy. Smoking in any building will result in forfeiture of deposit.
  Children must be supervised at all times and in all locations on church campus.
• Renters must respect other groups that may be using the building at the same time. Every effort will be made to avoid scheduling conflicts.
• Arrangements must be made with the Rentals Manager for delivery of flowers, food, etc.
• Long-term Use Agreements must have Ministry Executive Team approval.
• Regarding ongoing or long-term use agreements, if there are repeated policy violations or disruptive behaviors, the church reserves the right to re-evaluate the Use Agreement.
• No organization may use the Church name or address to represent or promote the purpose and/or views of such organization.
• Renter is responsible to remove all items/decorations brought in by renter at the end of event/rental. 
• UUCK is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
• All decorations are to be affixed with low-tack painter tape or ribbon. Nails, screws, thumbtacks, staples, wire or sticky tapes (scotch, duct, or masking) or putties MAY NOT be used in decorating.
• Nothing may be tacked or nailed into the walls or fixtures. Isle runners are discouraged.
• Furniture and floors must be protected from moisture at all times. (Use plant trays.)
• Alcohol is not to be sold on church property.
