Sunday, April 6, 2025 Return to Joy

Sometimes in life we find ourselves in the midst of joy killing situations. We may be going through some unresolved conflict, dissension at work, or in your family. We may find ourselves in a joy robbing circumstance even now with this current political state of affairs. How do we maintain our joy under these conditions? What are you doing to maintain your joy? There are no easy answers but we may be able to return to joy in these times. We will explore the possibilities as we examine “Returning to Joy” together.

9:15 AM: An In-Person, All-Ages Service

Led by DRE Colleen Thoele, and Rev. Renee Ruchotzke. This service will begin in the Church Sanctuary then progress over to Hobbs Hall.

  1. Share about a time when you experienced joy? How was it different than happiness?
  2. What are you doing in these times to make room for joy? How can we help each other practice joy?

Why We Pledge: Our Glorious Staff

Our congregation is thriving because of our people!  At the most recent Town Hall, we shined a spotlight on our glorious staff who are an essential part of our congregation.

Before the pandemic, we were able to compensate them fairly, and one of our top goals for this stewardship campaign is to return to those levels.

Much of the credit for our new-found momentum is tied directly to our staff and our minister.  Rev. Kristina has been a godsend, combining the qualities of a strong and gentle ministerial presence with dynamic worship services. Two years ago, we decided to reduce our staffing temporarily to help conserve our financial resources after the pandemic disruption.  Now the energy in our community has returned, and we are feeling the urgent need to return to full-time ministry.

A Conspiracy of Decency

During World War II, the people of Denmark rescued almost the entire Jewish population of their country from impending deportation. Across social class, religion, and political persuasion, the rescuers defined their humanity by their ability to act with great compassion. They did not consider themselves heroes, they simply felt they were doing the right thing.

Led by guest leader Rev. Martina Thompson, Worship Associate CLM Kathy Kerns and Music Director Emily Hall.

Guest Leader Bio: Martina (Marti) Thompson completed seminary in May 2024 at the UU House of Studies at Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio. She served as the Intern Minister at UU Fellowship of Lima, a lay-led congregation. She has been a UU for more than forty years. She lives in Lima, Ohio, and is a volunteer with Ohio Hospice.

Repair Project News

Updated March 14, 2024

This was an eventful week for our buildings and grounds volunteers and staff!

Elevator is Out of Order

We are sorry, but the elevator will NOT be available for a few weeks. It needs a new motor, which will take some time to order and install.

Our tech team (Thanks Julie) will have Zoom set up in Hobbs Hall which is fully accessible — we’ll make sure coffee and tea are available!

Please check the Sunday morning “Today’s Service” email, or this webpage for updates!

Front Steps are Open!

Although there are issues with the brickwork, the front steps have been inspected and are safe to use. We have roped off the section that will need to be repaired.

Glorious! FY 2026 Stewardship Campaign

“Glorious,” the name of this year’s Stewardship Campaign’s theme song, conveys what our Church represents to so many of us—something wonderful, something joyful, something extraordinary!

We know that our church is a special part of many of our lives — as a spiritual home, a place to share our gifts, a sanctuary from a troubled world, and/or a community of care. The stewardship campaign is our opportunity to support the work of the church with our financial gifts.
