Idleness as a Spiritual Practice

Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 10 AM

A multi-platform service led by CLM Kathy Kerns and Worship Associate Heidi Shaffer Bish.

Our culture is often very focused on time, with busyness often treated as a valued state of being. By contrast, Italians practice “Dolce Far Niente”, the sweetness of doing nothing, and spiritual practices like honoring the Sabbath are designed to help us slow down to have the time and space to connect with our values and to the people and the world around us. This service explores the wisdom and benefits of adopting idleness, or as the sweetness of doing nothing, as a spiritual practice.
