UU Youth for Justice (Youth Group)

The UUYJ motto is “Nil Magnum Nisi Bonum” which means “No greatness without goodness”

Our youth ministry provides opportunities for community building and justice making for youth in grades 8-12. UUYJ meets several Sundays per month and also some evenings.

UUYJ was founded on three guiding principles….

• “It’s All About the Relationships”: Provide a safe space for youth; we support each other through good times and bad; we build strong relationships with each other; whoever you are, wherever you come from, whomever you love, you are welcome here
• Deep Discussions on Social Justice Issues: We spend a lot of time trying to understand root causes of social justice issues and figure out what this means for our own beliefs and faith.  We’ve looked at issues, such as, racism, homelessness, poverty, transphobia, injustices with native Americans, and issues facing our age group, such as, stress, relationship issues, and how to prepare for college or work.  
• Action:  Then we go do something about it. (See below)

UUYJ hosts a monthly community meal and pop-up toiletries Free Store. Learn more about this ministry.

Youth Service Trip

Each year the youth spend the year planning for a service trip. They learn about the community they will be visiting, and plan fundraisers to fund their travel.
